As I looked up at Mars last night, I could have sworn that I saw a little Martian wave back. OK. That's a complete and obvious lie. ;D It felt special and fortunate seeing Mars. This is partly because I was thinking of my geek dad and how he probably can't see it since he has cateracts. To the naked eye, Mars looked like a large yellow dot. I got out my digital video camera and took some still shots and zoomed in and it was red. ;D Did anyone else check out the red planet last night? (PS Why has Mars inspired some of the worst scifi movies in recent history: "Mission To Mars" and "The Red Planet")

Very p i s s e d off that I missed it. I only remembered just after I had started colouring my hair and would have felt like a bit of a wanker going out onto the street with gladwrap on my head. Oh well..... what can you do???

Although last night 7:51 pm was the closest that Mars will be to Earth in our lifetime, according to newspapers, there will be no discernable difference to the average person over the next week or so.
I just wish I have binoculars or a telescope. (Aw! Dad let me pick between a telescope and a microsope when I was young and I chose poorly!)

I wanted to see it SO much....I love that sort of stuff, very interested in planets and how they work so on... But the Simpsons was on and I tried to look for it during and ad but Im very limited to how much sky I can see from my shoebox apartment so I too missed it

Mars has been very bright for the past week or so and will be for the next week or so. It rises in the East just after the sun sets (in the West). It's almost directly overhead at midnight. I thought i saw a martian too... but it was just Greer.
