Have any of you gotten into trouble for slagging off a band?
About half a year ago, I saw the most c-r-a-p support band and made a mention of how c-r-a-p-p-y they were on the messageboard of the headliner and the band members and I had a huge flame war. ;D
I won't mention the band's name but they seemed like they: a) were a bad reminder of the bad things of the 80s hair bands: bad hair, mysogynist (that's probably a spelling mistake) boring rock and burbon. b) were ripping off the kickarse guitar riff from Guns 'n' Roses's "You Could Be Mine" but playing it in a different key.
NOTE: I love some 80s hair bands but they were the geniunely awesome ones.
Van Halen were awesome... they were pioneers. Eddie Van Halen will always be one of my heros as a pioneer in technology and playing. I also loved Extreme, because they were diverse.

No, I cant say I've ever gotten into trouble for slagging off another band. I've never been caught doing it. Don't get me wrong, I've slagged off many a crap band (which I know I shouldnt do because we are all doing it for the love of music) but some bands deserve some slagging. Oh, once I slagged off George to my ex-boyf and he got upset because he is friends with them and I didnt know

Hey, the band wasn't called something to do with Hell or Glamour was it? (again - not mentioning names)
I haven't really slagged off other bands - not in public anyway. I usually keep my opinions to myself... but if I don't like someone we have played with, I just don't go and tell them they were good afterwards.
If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all.

Oh, once I slagged off George to my ex-boyf and he got upset because he is friends with them and I didnt know George is a band I slag off on a lot. It is my personal belief that all the guys who say they are fans of george: a) do so because they have a girlfriend who goes doey eyed over george b) want to pretend to be a sensitive guy to get laid c) are genuinely misguided. George are just to depressing and nothing else. Katie Noonan is so far up herself and the fact that she's concert trained that she could be a new form of alien anal probe - she just gets so far up!

I have met one of the members though - and I remember him saying that they sound a bit like GnR... and I also remember the hair.... I just put 2 and 2 together.

and Motley Crue ruled the eighties....hands down! I shall amicably disagree with you there. However, they have had greater fan longevity than any other of those bands. By the way, I'm getting my ticket to David Lee Roth today! ;D

I'm the only person who have seen them and thought they were the c-r-a-p. Everyone else thinks they are the s-h-i-t.
