Which CDs or music collectables do people consider so rare that they are the equivalent of the Holy Grail?
The only Holy Grails I need to buy are: Neil Young & The Restless - Eldorado (vinyl) Yo La Tengo - Merry Christmas from Yo La Tengo Yo La Tengo - Fakebook

Mmmmm holy grails for guitarists:
Stevie Ray Vaughan: 'Number 1' Fender Strat
Eric Clapton: 'Blackie' Strat, 'Brownie/Layla' Strat, 'Cream' SG and 1960 'Bluesbreaker' Les Paul (stolen in 1966 and never recovered).
Jimmy Page: 1959 Les Paul.
Jimi Hendrix: 'Woodstock' Strat
.....the list is endless!

Did Hendrix's Woodstock strat survive?

yep, the woodstock strat was sold about ten years ago at auction for some ridiculous amount (~$300k US) which was the highest auction amount for a guitar until the clapton 'brownie' strat which got about $400k US about 4 years ago. the hendrix monterey strat (the one he famously burned and smashed) got pieced back together and was owned by frank zappa....dunno what happened to all his other gear but he never really had a 'favourite' guitar he used for years at a time ala Clapton, Page and SRV. I think if Page ever sold his Les Paul it would be the highest and fetch at least $500k US, but he wouldn't and I'm sure he doesn't need the cash!

mmmm, possibly, but clapton's was a '54 and jimi's a '68 or so, so it's worth twice as much there alone, and jimi only played a few gigs with it whilst clapton used it for ages and did the layla album with it......... jimi was 'the man' tho! RIP

The guitar I'd like to get the most would be Eddie Van Halen's "Frankenstrat". I think that's been donation to the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame. II can't remember where exactly.
